I am
a children's book author, a scientist by profession, an artist, a miniaturist,
an educator and a mother of a four year old little girl. I love doing things
that involve creativity in any form. I enjoy reading, writing and spending time
with my kid.
I am Indian. I was born in Kolkata, where I also went to school. After
completing school, I went to Presidency College, Kolkata, where I obtained my
Bachelor's degree in Physics. Then I moved to Bangalore (India) to do my
Masters in Physics at the Indian Institute of science, where I also completed
my PhD in theoretical Physics. After that, I moved to Leiden, the Netherlands,
to work as a postdoctoral researcher at the Leiden University Medical Center.
Later I moved to Göttingen, Germany, where I am currently residing.

Where
did you get the inspiration for your book’s cover?
The
book cover was inspired by my daughter's continuous doodling on the window. It
is going to remind us forever, what we did to keep ourselves entertained during
the pandemic.

Who
has been the most significant influence on you personally and as a writer?
I
would say, my daughter. She is only four, but she is the reason I have chosen
to walk this road. All my life I have wanted to do different things, but
choices are difficult and I had to make the safest one because I couldn't
afford not to. When my daughter was born, she changed my life. She gave me this
strange confidence that I lacked so far. And not just confidence. She gives me
ideas. We chat and she lets me intoner world of imagination. She inspires me
everyday. When I think that I won't have time to write, she insists on helping
me with the chores so that I can find time to do what I love. She is my little
angel.
What
were your struggles or obstacles you had to overcome to get this book written?
Well,
since this book was written during the pandemic, every struggle was there. The
basic ones... struggle for survival, struggle for sanity and fighting
depression at home. But this book has been my lucky charm. It showed me that
ray of light in the dark.

Tell
your readers about your book.
Magic
in Windowland is a book about imagination. It is a story about a groups of
doodles who accidentally come alive on the living room window of a little
girl's house and suddenly discover a whole new two dimensional universe to
which they are expected to belong. They set off to explore the universe
(Windowland), and in the process have exciting adventures. This is the first
book in a series. My vision is to create a series that my readers, young and
old, can enjoy in every way. I have several more books planned. The next book
is due to launch in October.
Who
is your target audience, and why?
My
target audience is quite broad. It is for kids 3-8 years. At 3, I expect the
parent to read it aloud to the kid. But for 7-8, I expect the kids to enjoy
reading the book themselves.
What
do you consider your greatest success in life?
I
consider every little success to be important. Greatest? I guess that is
something I am still waiting for.
What
one unique thing sets you apart from other writers in your genre?
My
originality. I think outside the box, in every aspect. I think that is what
sets me apart from other writers.
