Buxton, LPC-S, NCC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapist who currently works as the Director of Chemical Dependency& Drug Addiction at a community mental health institution in his home of Vicksburg, MS. A graduate of Mississippi College and Alcorn State University, Mr. Buxton has also studied at Amridge University under in their Doctoral studies in Marriage and Family Therapy. Warner spends his free time with his wife, Camille, of 24yrs, in Vicksburg, MS. They have three children, Emani, Warner Jr., and Brandon.

About the Author

Christopher Smith is a former homeless person, accomplished board-certified practicing physician, and former faculty member at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Chris’ second career as an author was inspired by his desire to give hope to others. Chris grew up in extreme poverty and had varying degrees of homelessness throughout his childhood. Chris plans to use the proceeds from book sales to fund a scholarship program for disadvantaged youth.

This is a beautiful and thoughtful novel. I love the focus on cultural differences and the historical setting. The backdrop of British colonization in the 1600s along with the multicultural bent reminds me a bit of the romantic subplot in the classic “Shogun” but this seems like a more fleshed-out look at how love can span across any boundary!

Kuwoyomush is a fascinating mix of historical fiction and romance that centers around the characters of Rebecca and Francis. I enjoyed how the writing taps into the emotions of the characters, and you can vividly feel what they’re feeling and thinking. The author also describes an interesting dynamic between the tribes and the Englishmen. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a unique novel with actual history.

Excellent story to tow people who fall in love despite their differences between their cultures. The story is respectful of both cultures without drawing in typical stereotypes. I thoroughly enjoyed the novel from beginning to end and wanted to keep reading to see what happened.

I really enjoyed this love story between two people that were not supposed to normally fall in love. It was thrilling and sweet, basically all the good parts of a romantic book. I would definitely recommend this to others!
