Hats off to Alan McKim. Doing The Doing is an amazing recount of personal and professional history, highlighting the highs and lows of starting and growing a company. While the story itself is captivating, McKim uses the trials and tribulations of his company, Clean Harbors, to teach anyone who may be interested in starting a company. Being an employee of Clean Harbors in the 1980’s and 1990’s, I was excited to read Mr. McKim’s book. I was not disappointed! His honesty about the good, the bad, and the challenging was on every page! Although I did not always agree with everything when I was an employee, I was always proud to be an employee. After reading his book, I am truly in awe of what Alan McKim was able to accomplish over the last 40 years! And I am glad he was able to acknowledge the work, passion, and commitment of so many employees! Great book

I couldn't put this book down and have read it twice! Throughout the book, McKim shares his own experiences as an entrepreneur and provides real-life examples of how he and his company were tested every day. From having hackers trying to extort $50,000,000 to a merger sold out from under him to take the company public, the story of Clean Harbors is a factual depiction of the tribulations of an entrepreneur in America.
