Happy Fat Tuesday!
Happy Mardi Gras. My center is partying like it was 1999 with our parades and our Mardi Gras balls. If you have never partaken in this festivity I believe it should be on your bucket list. It is an amazing experience. Not much has happened to me since my last blog post other than my nephew and his son came to visit from Dallas to enjoy Mardi Gras.

HOW TO INCREASE YOUR SUBSCRIBER LIST AS A NOVELIST
Subscriber lists as an author are extremely valuable especially if you continue to author books. It seems as if the more books you author, the easier they are to sell. Why? Because you establish yourself as an author as you build your fan base. I am proud to announce that my subscriber list is 122,999 at the time of this writing and it continues to grow every day. Take a look at the counter on my sidebar.
I get asked all of the time how did I get so many subscribers? Frankly, I work at it. I keep my blog active with new articles, I interact with them, I conduct giveaways, and I introduce my subscribers to new authors, musicians, and artists. All of this increases my subscriber list because they find my information relevant. I receive a lot of feedback from authors who love this section of my blog. I keep the information tight with an author tip each blog.
Then, I increase my subscriber list who want to know about my latest book or gain insight into the character of one of my novels. I often discuss these in the opening section of my blog.
Lastly, I increase my subscribers because I'll do either a giveaway to one of my books or to another fabulous author like Jarrod Fasan's Trickling Sands this month. I also have certain links that if someone subscribes and wants an excerpt from a book or Beta Reader questionnaire, they can subscribe and receive that document.
Each effort you make to increase your subscribers will pay off in the end. So, what are you waiting for, if you don't have a subscriber list on your website, I suggest you go to Mailchimp and create one.

Tell your readers a little about yourself.
Where you grew up, where you live now, where you went to school etc, let them get to know the personal you. I like a little mystery (and hopefully so does everyone else), so I’ll leave that up to people’s imagination.
What inspired you to write this book?

I have always loved the Greek myths and prefer them to any other mythology ever created. What I adore about them is the fact that the gods are flawed and human, which is what makes them so incredibly interesting! It is fun to play around with them, reimagine their relationships, reignite imaginary feuds and reconcile imaginary differences.
The Greek pantheon’s humanness was what inspired me to write this story. They truly represent the best and worst of humanity, and the lessons they teach are still relevant in the modern age, as human nature itself has not changed much, if at all, despite the time that had passed since their conception. Not to mention, modern reimaginings of the Greek myths are always fun!
Where did you get the inspiration for your book’s cover?
I wanted the photo to reflect that the story was about a young woman and the Greek gods, so when I found a picture of a woman in Grecian attire, I thought it would be perfect.
Who has been the most significant influence on you personally and as a writer?
As far as personal influences go, I think everyone’s biggest influence is their family, and I owe mine everything. I couldn’t imagine a better support system and am eternally grateful to them for all that they have done for me and all that they have taught me.
As far as “professional” influences go, I have to say, J.K. Rowling. Is that cliché for a millennial to say? Well, it’s the truth. I have always loved reading books, even as a very young child, but the Harry Potter series just brought my adoration for literature to a whole new level. Interacting with Rowling’s works got me into writing as well, which altered the course of my life. However, to a certain extent, every author whose works I had ever read influenced and inspired me, so I am thankful to them too for turning me into the writer I am today.
What were your struggles or obstacles you had to overcome to get this book written?
I did not have many obstacles to writing this short story. The idea came to me one day while driving, and I immediately stopped to write down the basic plot points. I ended up writing the first draft on my phone. I waited for a little before revisiting it to have some distance from it and rewrote it completely. Usually, editing is grueling, but every minute of this was a joy, which signaled to me that I was on the right track, that this story needed to be heard and I should be the one to tell it.
Tell your readers about your book.
The Daughter of the Gods recounts the struggles of Genie Onassis, an ambitious twenty-something attempting to make a name for herself in one of the world’s toughest cities: New York. In her heartbreaks and triumphs, one thing keeps her going: the knowledge that she is the daughter of the gods of Olympus.
It is a contemporary short story about love and loss, failure and success. If you're looking for a thought-provoking, touching story that will stay with you after you have turned the final page, this is the short story for you.

Who is your target audience and why?
I don’t have a target audience. I hope everyone who stumbles upon my works will enjoy them, and I think readers from all walks of life will find something of value in them.
If you were going to give one reason for anyone looking at your book to read, why should they buy it?
My short story is raw and real; I write from the heart and not to ticking items off an imaginary checklist in hopes of writing the next best-seller according to some formula. I write what I have never come across before but wish I had.
What do you consider your greatest success in life?
I think this is more of a question you answer at the end of your life so I wouldn’t be able to give a good answer to this, I feel, right now. I am very proud, however, of every creative work I have ever finished, such as this short story or my upcoming poetry book entitled In debauchery, I delight…, coming out on March 15th and currently available for preorder on Amazon.

Everyone has life lessons to learn, tell your readers one or two of yours and how they make you the person you are today.
I have had so many life lessons thrust upon me that I find it hard to choose just one. However, if I had to, it’s probably that you have to work for the life you want because no one is going to hand it to you on a silver platter. Moreover, having a sense of humor makes life immeasurably easier.
What one unique thing sets you apart from other writers in your genre?
I’m not sure if I have a genre, as I write a little bit of everything. The Daughter of the Gods is a short story, but my debut poetry book is coming up, and I am currently working on a historical romance novel. I think what sets me apart is that I have spent years looking for certain kinds of books, hoping to read about certain kinds of characters, finding nothing even similar to what I wanted to read. After a while, I asked myself why I’m waiting around for someone to make the stories swirling in my head into books when it was me they occurred to, meaning that I was the only one who could write it. I think we all have a story to tell, and hopefully, most of us can write it too.
Moreover, I strive to remain as authentic as possible to what I have experienced as being “realistic,” though it is true that sometimes life writes the strangest stories and that everybody’s life experiences differ to varying extents from that of others’. While it is easy to get carried away when writing fiction, I strive to write stories that shed new light on reality to make the readers think.
