ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Steven D. Smallwood, a Tulsa, Oklahoma native, now resides in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He is a father of four daughters and nine grandchildren. A 20-year Navy veteran, he also dedicated 25 years to American Airlines, where he initially led aircraft maintenance teams before transitioning to the role of Human Resources Business Partner. During his 11 years in HR, he was instrumental in guiding the technical operations team through the US Airways merger and supporting leaders as they navigated the workforce challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the founder of Leader Roots, LLC, Steven coaches
frontline and mid-level leaders, providing them with practical strategies to
reduce stress, build trust, and improve performance.
In his leisure time, Steven enjoys reading, writing,
traveling, and freshwater fishing. He lives by the Ralph Waldo Emerson quote:
